Harbor made Americans
change the way they
thought about their
neighbors.
Americans are punished for their
heritage.

Americans labeled ENEMY ALIENS for their heritage.


Japanese people suffer the worst discrimination.
Imposed curfews were issued for some Americans.
Americans of Japanese heritage have been in the US since the
early 1800s.
Paranoia Breaks Out in America

Shortly after the Attack on Pearl Harbor fear breaks out.


Japanese Americans are suspected of espionage.
Executive Order 9066 - February 19, 1942 President
Roosevelt orders German, Italian, and Japanese Nationals be
barred from certain areas deemed sensitive military.
Japanese Americans Are Forced Out
of their Homes.

March 18, 1942 President Roosevelt established the War


Relocation Authority to Take all people of Japanese descent
into custody, surround them with troops, prevent them from
buying land, and return them to their former homes at the
close of the war.
Battle of Coral Sea

May 4th 8th, 1942 - The Battle of Coral Sea was the first air
sea battle in history.
A tactical victory for the Japanese Navy because of number of
Allied ships sunk.
A strategic victory for the Allies because two Japanese aircraft
carriers were damaged and unable to take part in the next
battle.
The U. S. Navy is Victorious in the
Battle of Midway.

October 23, 1942 - The British
Empire defeat the German-Italian
armies at El Alamein in Egypt.
November the Russians defeat the
German army in Stalingrad.
The Battle of Stalingrad (July 17,
1942-Feb. 2, 1943) is considered
by may historians the greatest
battle in the entire war.
Marked the turning of the war in
favor of Allies.

July 10, 1943 160,000 Allied Forces land in Sicily and


Northern Italy.
July 25, 1943 Mussolinis government is overthrown,
peace talks begin.
September 3, 1943 British troops land in Italy,
Americans six days later and the Italian government
surrenders.
October 13, 1943 Italy declares war on Germany.
