Tacoma Narrows Bridge
Build on July 1, 1940
Connects city ofTacomawith theKitsap Peninsula
Cable-stayed bridge built instead of truss bridge.
Designed to support two lanes of traffic, it was only 12m wide, and 2.45m high.
Named as Galloping Gertie due to vertical movement.
Collapsed on November 7, 1940, at 11:00 A.M
Cause was 68km/h wind.
No loss of life except Tubby a dog.
Rebuilt on October 14, 1950
