What is it

A neuropsychiatric disorder in which patients think they are dead, have


lost their vital organs, or that they do not exist. The condition can be
described simply as existence denial.
Symptoms
Feelings of guilt

Believe they are paralyzed

Cannot recognize their own face

Show no interest in a social life or pleasure

Vague feelings of anxiety in the early stages

Believe they are dead

Feel they are immortal

Depression
Causes

Occurs due to lesions in the frontal and temporal regions of the right
hemisphere of the brain

The EXACT cause is unknown


Treatments

Medications in combination with electroconvulsive therapy

Antidepressants

Antipsychotics

Mood stabilizer medications


Stages

Germination stage- shows depressive moods

Blooming Stage- delusions of being dead start

Chronic Stage- severe depression due to paranoia
