Background

We are introduced to Mersault in the beginning of the novel when his

towards his mothers death and was completely unbothered by it.
Also throughout the novel he exhibits other stranger behavior
shown in his actions and personality. We do not know anything about
his childhood or adolesence,we just know about the present but do
not know what it is that shaped the kind of person that Mersault is.
