INTRODUCTION

Palm vein technology is one of the upcoming

technology.

It uses the vein patterns in human palms to confirm a

persons identity.

It is highly secure and accurate.

Registering Through Palm Vein
Technology
Step 1:
Hold your palm a few
centimeters Over the
scanner and within a
second it reads your
unique vein pattern. A vein
picture is taken and palm
pattern is registered.

6
Registering Through Palm Vein Technology

Step 2:
The registered palm
pattern is stored into the
database along with the
personal details of the
client.

7
How It Works
Takes snapshot of palm veins.
Generates infrared image.

Compares with database.

13
What Happens If The Registered Palm
Gets Damaged?
During time of registration veins of both hands are
taken.

How Secure Is This Technology?

Best part of this technique is authentication is

provided inside human body, and no one can steal it.

15
ADVANTAGES

Hidden characteristics are used as biometric features.

It is difficult to forge for intruders.
It is not affected by dryness or roughness of skin or by
physical injury on surface of the hand.
It has an FRR of 0.01% and FAR of less than 0.00008%.
This is based on experiments conducted on 70,000
individuals in Japan.

16
DISADVANTAGES
There are numerous factors that can affect the quality
of the captured image such as body temperature,
humidity, heat radiation, nearness of vein to surface,
camera calibration and focus.

17
CONCLUSION
Palm vein pattern recognition is a convenient and easy to
use biometric technology with high security and accuracy
level.
Palm vein authentication has a high level of
authentication accuracy due to the uniqueness and
complexity of vein patterns of the palm.
Because the palm vein patterns are internal to the body,
this is a difficult method to forge. Also, the system is
contactless and hygienic for use in public areas.
