OBJECTIVES
Post-operative care following functional endoscopic sinus
surgery (FESS) is very important and different for every person.
Nasal pack
stop and prevent bleeding
prevent concha lateralization
prevent synechia formation
prevent Restenosis
Nasal pack divided into two groups:
biodegradable
nonbiodegradable material
MATERIALS AND METHODS
Retrospective analytic observational case control.
Samples
Electronic medical record Dr.Soetomo Hospital Surabaya (January 2014 - December
2015)
Phone interviews in July-October 2016.
Two groups :
1. patient with oxidised cellulose polymers nasal pack
2. patient with vaseline soaked gauze.
The comfort level was divided into four terms
length of stay
Pain
nasal congestion
intranasal pressure.
Measured semi-quantitatively using a numeric rating scale (NRS-11).
Data analysis used was the independent t-test analysis, and processed using
the Microsoft Excel 2013.

Discussion
Conclusion
The oxidised cellulose polymers nasal pack was more
comfortable than vaseline soaked gauze. However,
there was no significance difference on nasal congestion
