Introduction

The entire case study revolves around TATA Steel right


from its inception with regards to their undying
contribution towards their employees and the society as a
whole at Jamshedpur.
Inspite of the fact that Tata Steel has different Leaders
over the years, their Ethos and their commitment towards
CRS Activities was something that remained Constant.
He was a man of true courage as also mentioned in the
case by Mr. Jawaharlal Nehru.
Mr. Jamshead was a far great visionary who had dreamt Big
for TATA that was clearly seen in his bold ventures.
TATA was clear of the fact that steel alone does not create
share value and much more needs to be done in order to
attract investors.
TATA, following its Ethos and with its nature of generous
Community practices had won the hearts of its employees
as well as the community.

Can Tata Balance its


Profitability and their CSR
Activities ?
Can the contradiction can
be tackled?
Pros

Their CSRs and benefits provided to their


employees created loyalty in them.
TATA had created a brand for itself in the
minds of people.
The bond between the extremes of the
hierarchy was unique to TATA.
They focused on Employee satisfaction.
This Helped them get through
Liberalisations.
Cons

Intention of the company was


questioned ?
They received criticisms.
Profitability was drained in CSR
activities which created disress
amoungst the investors and
outsiders.
Findings
Mr TATA foreseen the future way before
time.
Mr. Jamshed was a far great visionary
who had dreamt Big for TATA that was
clearly seen in his bold ventures.
Tata gave grave importance to the
welfare of his employees right from
inception and continued the same all
throughout.
Suggestions
Tata overdid with its community
services so much so their their profits
suffered.
Tata has taken a wise stand of
focusing on its core business and
outsourcing its CSR activities
However they invested the same
amount for community and employee
services.
