Burden( in meter )
B=.012*(2*SGe/SGr+1.5)*dia (mm)

SGe is SPECIFIC GRAVITY OF EXPLO .

SGr is SPECIFIC GRAVITY OF ROCK

Dia, for bulk explosive should be same as hole
dia but for sticks type explosive ,dia of sticks
to be considered (to counter the coupling
effect.)
Dia is most critical so beforehand must
be known what type of explosives
either bulk or sticks are available
,prior to commence the drilling

EXPLOSIVE
WT PER METER
SGe*D*D/1273=(1.2*76.2*76.2)
/1273=5.47 Kg/mtr (SGesp.gof explosive)
THUMB RULE
To get expls.wt.is half of density of
expls.multiplied by square of dia (inch).For
example, for one inch dia and 0.80SGof
expls.wt per mtr=0.80/(2*1*1)=0.40 kg.For
two inch , 1.60kg.For 1.20 SGe and three
inch dia,wt of expls.=
1.20/(2*3*3 )=5.40kg/mtr

STEMING LENGTH St=Z*cube root

of{w*rbs/100}where z is fly rock factor(1 for normal
and 1.5 for contained),w is expl.wt,rbs is relative bulk
strength.For 76.2mm Dia ,rbs of AN is 100 and Z=1
St=1*cube root of(5.47*100/100)=1.75mtr
