Copyreading is copy editing or

checking errors in the story using


copy reading marks or symbols.
A copyreader is an editor.
A copy reader is a specialist who
improves the story .
Copyreading, therefore, is necessary
for the following reasons:
o1. The article must be factually accurate.
o2. The article must be correct
grammatically.
o3. The newspapers style should be
followed.
o4. The article must be free from libelous
statements.
o5. The story needs an effective style and
headline.
A good copyreader must:
Be good in English
Know his stylebook
Have a mastery of copy reading
symbols
