Scrapbook Project
Humanities 7 & 8
Scrapbook Project: Beginning of Country
o The project will be done in pairs. Each pair will choose one
(1) country in Europe for the project.
o Using the Themes in Geography, each pair will discuss
about the location, place, region, movement, and human-
environmental interaction of their chosen country.
o Scrapbook making is scheduled on the 12th to 16th of October,
and the deadline of submission is on the 19th of October.
o The best scrapbook will be exhibited on the ground floor of
MSB during the United Nations celebration on the 23rd of
October.
o Scrapbook project will be graded according to the criteria
below. The perfect score is forty (40) points.

When we want to learn about a certain country, city, region, etc., we use
the Five Themes of Geography. For each of the Five Themes, each pair
should come up with a scrapbook that serves as the answer to the
following questions about a particular country or region:

o Location
o Where is the place (in terms of longitude, latitude, continent, and
hemisphere)?
o How far away from home is it (how long is travel time by plane, and
how far is the distance in miles or kilometers)?
o What are the neighboring countries?

o How can one describe the place (in terms of size and shape)?
o What is the climate (in terms of temperature, rainfall, etc.)?
o What kinds of physical features are there in this country (such as
mountains, rivers, deserts)?
o How can the people live her be described (include details such as the
type of government, nationalities, culture and traditions, etc.)?

o How do people depend on the land (farming, herding, mining,
industry)?
o How have people adapted with and changed the land/environment?
What are the reasons behind how they have adapted and changed in
line with the environment?
o Where do most people live (do they live near a river or coastline, in the

o What is an issue in this place that is caused by human environment
interaction?

o How can one travel to the place (route, drive, fly, walk)?
o Does the country export goods to other places? If so, what are these,
and to which places are these goods exported?
o Does the country import goods from other places? If so, what are
these, and from which places are these goods imported?

as jobs, family, climate, war)?
