Introduction
• McDonald's - Drive-in restaurant by two brothers at
California in 1937. Revolutionary concept called 'self-service
• Started by 2 brother’s Richard and Maurice McDonald
• The brothers used assembly line procedures in their kitchen
for mass production
• Speed, service and cleanliness became the critical success
factors of the business
• As word of their success spread, franchisees started
showing interest. However, the franchising system failed

• Ray Kroc (Kroc), distributor for milkshake machines and


he finalized a deal with the McDonald brothers in 1954.
• He established a franchising company, the McDonald
System Inc. and appointed franchisees.
• Soon he bought out the McDonald brothers' share for
$2.7 million and changed the name of the company to
McDonald's Corporation. In 1965, McDonald's went
public
• 1996 : McDonald's opened its doors in India
• Currently McDonald's operates in 121 countries &
having more than 35000 restaurant, serving 60 Mn
customers everyday
Perception ??
• The way of looking at one thing by two persons in a different way.
• People’s behavior is based on perception of reality and not on
reality itself: Availability Biasness
• Perception affecting individual decision making.
• Change in perception of Indian community due to outburst in the
western countries.

• McDonalds held a meeting in Delhi and resolved and reassured
the Indian community that they are not using beef in the Indian
products
• Perceptions are most times Short Lived

• Respect for local traditions
– Introduce Aloo Tikki burger
and beef free french fries
after understanding indian
tradition is ethical.
• Respect for core human values
– Playing with words by saying not using beef in French fries
is unethical
• Deciding what is right and wrong
– Cutting tropical forest and polluting environment due to litter is
wrong

SOLUTION
Organization is whether in home country or host country core
values are same and should be followed strictly
