THAT DEALS WITH WATER RELATED
ISSUES AND DEVELOPMENT IN
MALAYSIA
Department of Irrigation and Drainage Malaysia
( Ministry of natural resources and environment)

in charge of flood mitigation, river and coastal


management, hydrology, urban drainage and dams.

passage of less frequent and larger flood events.

NAHRIM (National Hydraulic Research Institute of
Malaysia)

Malaysia in water related issues .
For an examples, escalating floods and droughts events,
deteriorating water quality in rivers and coastal bodies,
competing users and other water related issues such as
erosion, accretion, sedimentation , and not least the
impending anticipated impact of climate change on
water.
DOE (Department of Environment Malaysia)

which is empowered to enforce compliance with effluent


standards for point sources of pollution.
Control water pollution.
to ensure that the environment is clean, safe, healthy and
productive.
MOH (Ministry of Health Malaysia)

Provides untreated but drinkable water to rural


communities not served by the local water authorities.
Monitors water quality at water treatment plant intakes as
well as the quality of water within the distribution system
for compliance with national drinking water standards.
MWP( Malaysian Water Partnership)

develop knowledge on what is happening in the national


water sector, and on trends and developments outside the
water sector that may affect future water use.
raise awareness on water issues among the population and
decision-makers in order to foster the political will and
leadership necessary to achieve the vision.
use the knowledge and support generated to contribute to
the framework for action.
