In english we have a way to talk about dreams,
hypothetical dreams or hypothetical situations:

The second conditional!!!

 The 2nd Conditional Uses
We used the 2nd conditional when we are thinking about a
situation in the present or future that is hypothetical

Example:
If I won the lottery, I would travel around the world.
(Si yo ganara la loteria, podria viajar alrededor del mundo)
 The 2nd Conditional Uses
Another use of the 2nd conditional is to give and ask for
advice.

Example:
If I were you, I would buy that car.
(Si yo fuera tu, comprara ese auto)
 The 2nd conditional structure

If + Past Simple, ...Would + Verb

If I had more money, I would buy a nice apartment.
Si yo tuviese ms dinero, me comprara un lindo apartamento.
(Hypothetic situation)

If I were you, I would buy that car.

Si yo fuese t, comprara ese auto.
(Advice)
 The 2nd conditional Negative
If + Past Simple + not, ...Would + Verb
Example: If it were not raining, we would go out.

If + Past Simple + , ...Would +not + Verb

Example: If they won the lottery, they wouldn't work
any more.
 The 2nd conditional Questions
If + Past Simple, ...What + would + subject + verb
Example: If you won the lottery, what would you do?

Translate to english the next sentences using 2nd conditional:

1. Si yo estuviese en Brasil, ira a Ro de Janeiro.

2. Si l estuviese en mi lugar, no hara esto.
3. Si ella escribiese un libro, sera un best-seller.
4. Si yo fuera tu, buscara un nuevo trabajo.
5. Si slo tuvieras un da para vivir, qu haras?
 Answers
1. If I were in Brazil, I would go to Rio de Janeiro.
2. If he were in my place, he wouldn't do this.
3. If she wrote a book, it would be a best-seller.
4. If I were you, I would look for a new job.
5. If you had only one day to live, what would you do?
