CASE STUDY
2 delivery agents; 2 service personnel
Time taken to complete processes-
Booking a slot= 2 minutes
Max time to pick up= 15 hours
Suitable entry time= 5 minutes
Washing time= 20 minutes
Capacity= 15 big, 5 small

Mechanical Stages-
1. 15 minutes rinsing for 20 clothes
2. Stain removal of minimum 5 clothes
Stain removal- demanded by 5% customers
Time for dryer= 10 minutes

Dryer details-
20 large clothes at a time; 3 small clothes= 1 large cloth = 60 small clothes
Drying on a sunny day= 10 minutes
Drying on humid day= 23 minutes
Ironing details
6 minutes- 1 large cloth
5 minutes- 1 small cloth
Delivery process= pick up pick up
10% customers need no pick up
70% customers need only pick up
1 set is 15 big and 5
small clothes
a)Maximum capacity of clothes processed in a day, working for 10 hours=
20(washing)+15(rinsing)+(4*0.05)(stain removal)+10(drying)+10(sunny
day)+{[(6*15)+(5*5)]/2}(ironing)
[ it is divided by 2 because 2 service professional are available]

when divided with time taken individually the information is

washing=35.2 minutes
drying = 20 minutes
ironing=57.5 minutes

since to process a set of clothes it takes maximum time for ironing, so one set
can be processed in 57.5 minutes

So in available 10 hours that is 600 minutes 10 sets can be processed with 25

minutes remaining in which 10 small clothes can be processed so totally 150
big and 60 small clothes.
b)Delivery time they should promise to customers so that they
always deliver on time

=2(booking time)+15(pickup time)+5(entry time)+20(washing)+

15(rinsing)+4(stain removal)+10(drying)+23(humid day)+
)+{[(6*15)+(5*5)]/2}(ironing)

=151.5 minutes

Here humid day is taken because to consider the worst case.

So this is the delivery time they should promise

c)Minimum cost they should charge the customer per cloth

It works 25 days a month and 10hours a day so 250 hours which is

1500 minutes of working

As we know it takes 57.5 minutes to process a set of clothes, in

1500 minutes 260.8 sets can be processed.

20000 rupees is collected for washing so it is 20000/260.8=76.68

Rupees per set.

A set contains 15big + 5small cloths so it is 20 pieces

So per cloth cost is 76.68/20=3.834 rupees

Considering delivery and pick up

10000 per month for 260.8 sets so per set it will cost 38.34 rupees.

For each cloth it will be 38.34/20= 1.91 rupees

So total cost will be 1.91+3.834=5.74 rupees.
