Health Issues

In May 2013, 37-year-old Jolie announced in a New York

Times op-ed article titled "My Medical Choice" that she
underwent a double mastectomy in an effort to prevent breast
cancer in the future. The actress said she decided to undergo
the surgery after learning that she carries a gene known as
BRCA1, which increases the risk of both breast and ovarian
cancer. "My doctors estimated that I had an 87 percent risk of
breast cancer and a 50 percent risk of ovarian cancer, although
the risk is different in the case of each woman," Jolie stated.
"Once I knew that this was my reality, I decided to be proactive
and to minimize the risk as much I could." By late April 2013,
Jolie added, she had completed several months of medical
procedures, including a double mastectomy and reconstruction
surgery, at the Pink Lotus Breast Center in California.
Split from Brad Pitt
In September 2016,
Jolie filed for divorce
from Pitt and requested
sole physical custody of
their six children,
sparking another
Hollywood tabloid frenzy.
Their contentious
custody battled played
out publicly with The Los Angeles Department
allegations that Pitt, after of Children and Family

Why Do I Idolize Her?
Despite having come from a broken home, Angelina has
managed to turn her life into an incredible success
story. I do not think this boils down to just sheer good
luck, attractive looks, or superior acting talent. I think
that Angelina has consistently managed to effectively
leverage all her talents and capabilities through the
years, and this boils down to sheer determination. If
she needs to be charming, she can be. If she needs to
be flirty or coquettish, she can be.
Angelina has managed to summon her internal
strength, willpower and resilience to surmount
multitude of tribulations. She serves as a role model
from which we can gather strengths to overcome all
the obstacles facing us. If she can do it, then so can
you and if you can learn to develop and channel
resilience in the face of adversity, then this will help
to shape your way towards ultimate success.
 I'm not saying that she is perfect in
every way, shape, and form, but she
tries, she tries with compassion, and at
the end of the day that is what really
matters. That is truly what it means to
