English

Welcome! I look forward to getting to know each of you and working with
you throughout the school year. Your learning is my top priority! A rule to live by
and follow in class:
Treat others like you want to be treated!

Expectations:

1. Come to class prepared each day with required supplies :

composition notebook & English folder
pencil pouch (red pen, pencil, highlighters)

Failure to do so will result in a behavior mark given for that day.

2) Behave in a way that does not distract anyone from learning

In order to use class time efficiently, we expect adherence to these biblical principle.
Treatment of others Psalm 34:13-14
Respecting Authority Hebrew 13:17
Work Ethic Colossians 3:23
Consequences will be based upon a marking system within each different class period. Once a
student has received 3 marks in one class period, a parent will be notified. After that, any other
disturbance or lack of bringing materials to class will be a referral to the office .

3) Homework: Assignments will be posted on the white board each day under
the appropriate class period.

All assignments must have a complete heading or points will be deducted:

Name period lesson assignment

ALL assignments in English MUST be done in PENCIL . For

complete credit, the assignment must be written with proper
grammar in each sentence. Each assignment will be graded for
correctness and proper heading.
4) Late Work: (homework that has not been completed before class
begins) will be accepted 1 day late for credit during the 1st
Quarter. After that time a zero will be given. Starting the 2nd Q late
work will not be accepted.

5) Composition Notebook: Take notes in composition notebook (with

examples) that are given in class to help you with your assignments.
You will be allowed to use it on quizzes and tests when instructed by
the teacher.

6) Entering my classroom - Upon entering the classroom, you are

expected to take your seat, get your supplies ready, and start on the
bell activity that is on the white board. If you are not in your seat
when the bell rings, you will be considered tardy.

7) Absences: When returning to school after an absence, you must get

an admit slip from the secondary office (Mrs. Clark) and have me sign
it. Without the admit slip, you will not receive any credit for make-up
work. You are expected to get your own make-up work from the
designated make-up work file in the classroom. It is your
responsibility to turn the completed assignment back in the
designated folder.

8) Food and drinks Food is not permitted in any classroom on any day
except Friday. Water is the only beverage allowed on Monday-
Thursday. On Friday, you may bring other beverages, as long as they
have a lid (no canned drinks.) There may be times an individual class
may earn extra Friday food privileges for reasons determined by me.
Gum is allowed, as long as you chew discretely.

9) Cell phones and OTHER technology devices Cell phones are not
permitted in my classroom at any time. I would recommend you keep
your cell phone in your locker or at home. If you must keep it in your
backpack/bag, the ringer must be off. If you are caught with your cell
phone, you will be written up in a referral. Cell phone use during
school will result in ISS. If your parent needs to contact you, they may
call Mrs. Clark in the Secondary office (756-1140) and they will get
you the message. Other technology devices are not required in my
classroom and will not be used unless you are instructed to do so by
me.
10) Tests/Quizzes will be posted on the board and you will be given one weeks
notice before each test. All tests will be kept on file in my classroom until the end of
the semester. Then, they will be returned to you before the final exam. There will
be quizzes given during each chapter. You will usually know about a quiz at least one
day in advance, but there may occasionally be a pop quiz.
