Inverter & Transformer system

The Inverter

2 6/20/2015
Whats an Inverter?

Inverter will transform DC voltage into AC voltage

Changing Inverter settings we can control the AC output shape
and frequency
3 6/20/2015
Capacitor

Starts with a high current

flow and it drops to zero
with capacitor builds
voltage

4 6/20/2015
Inductor / Coil

Building magnet field will

resist the current flow
first and then constant
current will flow

5 6/20/2015
Inductor fly-back

If we open the switch, a

spark will generate by the
back current from inductor

To prevent this effect, a

free wheeling (fly back)
diode is used

After open circuit, the

stored current will drain
through the fly back diode
6
and flow become zero 6/20/2015
Capacitor + Inductor

First Inductor will resist the

current flow until it
reaches maximum value

Next the capacitor will

charge and reduce the
current flow back to zero

Inverter circuit

8 6/20/2015
First half Cycle

Control Signal A
triggers the first
current flow cycle
through the HV
transformer primary
side

9 6/20/2015
Second half Cycle

Control Signal B
triggers the second
current flow cycle
through the HV
transformer primary
side(change direction)

10 6/20/2015
Full cycle

The Inverter + HV Transformer

12 6/20/2015
HV Output

The controller will

generate quick pulses
until the output
capacitor charged to the
ref. level

After reaching ref. level

pulses will generate only
to maintain that HV
level constant
