Definition:

A program that runs on a computer, using a series of codes and


instructions. When it is runs, the software is being executed.
Two Types of software: system software and application software.

Types of interfaces:

Your operating system interfaces with you through different ways.


The types of the user interface a computer has are three:
Command line interface:
This is the old style where users type in instruction using keyboard. You cant have
use of images, icons or graphics and thus use little computer power. You have to
be careful for spelling. And its hard to remember the commands.
Graphical user interface(GUI):
This is the visual interface and is more popular because it is easier to use, but
consumes more power. No typing commands, only POINTING AND CLICKING. you
see windows, icons, menus and pointers.

TOUCHSCREEN INTERFACE:
Found in mobile phones and tablets and is similar to GUI(command
through icons and menus)
No mouse is used.
Selecting is through touching the screen.(pinching, rotating or
swiping).
