Gujarat Refinery is located at Koyali(near

vadodara) in Gujarat
It is second largest refinery owned by Indian
Oil Corporation after panipat refinery
The green belts, spread across an area of 139
acres in and around the refinery speak about
its commitment towards environment. With
more than two lakh strong tree population
Gujarat Refinerys three green belts act as
lungs for the refinery
History and Developments

Foundation Stone was laid by Jawaharlal Nehru in

year 1963
1mmtpa was commissioned for trial production on
11 october1965 and is achieved its rated capacity in
year 6 dec 1965
Second Distillation unit was started by President
Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan
Third distillation unit was commissioned in sep 1967
to process Ankaleswar and north gujarat crudes
In 1968 udex plant was commisioned for production
of benzene and toulene using feedstock from CRU
Achievements

Gujarat Refinery was first to complete

hydrodesulphurization project in 1999
It has largest grassroots single train kerosene
to LAB unit in the world
It has countrys first Fludised Catalytic
Cracking unit
The expansion in Gujarat Refinery has taken
place in phases over the years from 2 MMTA
to the present capacity of 13.7 MMTA
