What can you learn from the title of the
artwork?
Considering the title of the artwork, I know it will
feature a rhinoceros.

What subjects in the artwork can you recognize?
A rhino, armor, and the ground.

what qualities you see.
I recognized a use of unity, contrast, value, balance, and
pattern in the artwork.

What media and techniques did the artist use?
The artist used ink to shade and cross-hatch in his
work.
Analysis
Emphasis: Is there a dominant element or focal
point that you see first?
There isnt really a big focal point in the piece of art
besides the rhinoceros itself.

Balance: Is there a special balance, or weight,
among the elements? What mood does it
create?
I have found a sense of balance in the work because
the front and back sides of the rhinoceros are about
equally shaded and the middle is mostly blank.

Proportion: Do the proportions look normal,
ideal, or unusual? Why?
I think the proportions are slightly unusual due to the
armor plates on the back and the randomly placed
horn on the back as well.

pattern? Where? Why?
The patterns on the rhino are circles within circles on
the underside and back of it.

paths of movement do your eyes follow?
Where? Why?
There is no rhythm or movement in the piece.

together, or unify many parts of the design.
Why? What elements add variety? Why?
The different patterns that are represented on the art
are brought together to create a unique piece of art.

Is there symbolism in the artwork? What do you
think it means?
The symbolism in this piece is strength represented by
the armor on the rhino.

What feeling do you think the artist wanted to
give the viewer when looking at the work?
The art gives the viewers a sense of intimidation because rhinos
are scary.

have experienced?
The work reminds me of the zoo because there are rhinos at the
zoo.

The work relates to diversity because all of the different pattern
were combined to make one piece of art.

This work is not that unique because a lot of people
