Ex:
1. I could have finished the homework last
night but, I was overslept.
2. He could have done the dishes, but his
father decided to help him.

The writer had abilty to do something in the

past but there was something happened in
the process.
2. You did/ didnt do something that
was a good idea.
Should have + V3/ Shouldnt have + V3
Ex:
1. I should have studied harder, so I could
pass the exam yesterday.
2. She shouldnt have taken easy the test,
as a result she got a bad mark.
3. It was telling you about past
condition/ situation.
Would have + V3/ Wouldnt have + V3
Ex:
1. I would have been in the party, if the
tire didnt get flat.
2. The school wouldnt have gotten
better, if the teacher didnt work hard.
4. Past possibilty
Might have + V3/ Might not have + V3
Ex:
1. He might have visited many places in
the world because he has a lot money,
but he doesnt do it.
2. She might have gotten married but, her
fiance is in hospital now.

Must have + V3/ Musnt have + V3
Ex:
1. She sings beautifully, she must have
practiced a lot.
2. The team won the competition, they
must have trained themself very hard.
