Structure of the course

In this course the main concepts, models


and principals of human resource
management will be presented.

It is aimed to impart the basic knowledge


of theory and practicals to understand
human resources role and its impact in the
organization
Objectives

To understand the insights of human resources


of an organization
To analyze the management of people from the
perspective of the integration between human
resources and corporate strategy
To identify the elements affecting actual
contour of management of people
Syllabus
1. Introduction to Human Resources
2. Basic processes in HRM: The analysis and
design of work
3. Acquisition of HR: HR planning, recruitment,
selection, placement, and Training
4. Performance management and employee
development
5. Compensation of Human Resources
6. Styles of direction: Motivation and leadership
7. Labour Management and corporate values
8. Managing HR globally and the company 2.0
Teaching Methodology
Lectures
Case studies
Article readings and news information
Practical activities ( CV, research work on
values, role play of selection of
employees, etc.)
Practical exercise with a report of 5 pages
(Functions of HRM, contact your local firm
and collect information on how they
operate the HRM function)

The main theoritical concepts of the


subject will be given in each of the
sessions

These fundamental theories will be taken


with power point slides but the explanation
and notes have to be taken down in the
class.

Attendance is very important!!


Cases/readings/activities

The case studies are expected to be read,


worked, and discussed. News and other
articles information about the topic of the
course is considered very important
Conferences HR Directors

We will be inviting HR directors from


various companies to share with us their
vision on some of the topics covered in the
course to have a practical view.

The attendance is obligatory and will be


included as a material for the exam it is
expected to have a question and answer
section at the end of the conference
Evaluation

Exams : Mid term 20% (end of october)

Final exam 30%

Continous evaluation 30% (final


presentation, short report 8th of october,
summary writing of case studies)

Attendance and class participation 20%
