40% of Indian population hold bank account


RBI is proposing to come out with more banking license in 2014 -2015
Only 2.75% of Indian population are actively involved trading in financial
instruments
As per research done by McKenzie the penetration can go up to 5% by 2020
In coming decade India required more than 1 Cr skilled professional in BFSI
verticals
Present skill and non skill employment ratio in Indian financial service sector is
30% and 70% respectively
The National Skill Development Corporation, Govt. of India has also identified
Financial Services Skills as one of the 21 employable skills
There is a huge Gap between Demand and Supply in skilled employee in India
Most of senior BFSI professional will get retired by 2025 again it will create a
huge demand in high level .
How NIFM will help

Subject : Modifications in the scheme of studies of Financial Market


Management (FMM) and amendments Regarding.

As you are aware, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) had launched
a new course on Financial Markets Management (FMM) in collaboration with
National Stock Exchange (NSE) as joint certification program under vocational
education at senior secondary level from the academic session 2007-08.

It is no doubt that in view of such an acute shortage of professionals and for India to
attain major role in the world economy, Govt. of India is also taking initiative to make
Financial literacy as a compulsory subject for students of all streams in Senior
Secondary level. In an another initiative, the government as per Gazette of India
notification Dated. March 6, 2010 has reduced the minimum age for employment
from 21 to 18 years for handling NSE terminal in Capital Market & Derivative Market.
History of Students Applied for FMM Examinations

In 2009 1303 students belongs to 59 schools appear for FMM examinations


1240 students clear and passed the examination which is 95% of appearance
68% of the students passed NSE online modules to be legible for prestigious
joint certification by NSE and CBSE
44 students of the JOINT certification holder are get the primary eligibility to put
their first steps to financial market and opt for the JOB

In 2010 has been further encouraging. The number of FMM students who
appeared for final examination in 2010 increased from 1307 (in 2009) to 1423.
Similarly the pass percentages as well as those are eligible for joint certification
also increased in comparison to last year
