Workspace - Overview
Workspace is a web client that provides the user interface
for viewing and interacting with content created with
Hyperion EPM application.

Workspace Overview
To start with Hyperion Financial Management as Web Client
we need to Log-In as
http://<servername>:19000/workspace
The default credentials are
Username : admin
Password: password
Workspace Overview
Workspace provides a single EPM interface. It provides users
these access and interacting capabilities for these
components:
Planning application tasks.
Financial Management application tasks.
High-performance, multidimensional modeling, analysis, and
reporting with Essbase.
Financial reporting for scheduled or on-demand, highly
formatted, financial and operational reporting from most
data sources, including Financial Management and
Planning.
Workspace Overview
Interactive reporting for ad hoc relational queries, self-
service reporting, and dashboards against ODBC data
sources.
Production reporting for high volume, enterprise-wide
reporting Web analysis for interactive, ad hoc analysis,
presentation, and reporting of multidimensional data.
Enterprise metrics for management metrics and analysis
presented in easy-to-use, personalized, interactive,
dynamic dashboards In addition, Workspace provides
access and interaction with other published content, such
as Word or Excel documents.

The recently used application is showing. We can open it or


can create new application. To see newly created
application in Win32 (Desktop Client) we need to refresh
the Application List

Workspace - Dimension Library
• The Dimension Library is for holding metadata on the shared and local
dimensions used by EPMA-enabled applications
• Dimensions describe an organization’s data, und usually contain
groups of related members.
Workspace - Dimension Library
• Member of Dimensions are arranged in hierarchies.

• The system defined dimensions are :


Scenario, Year, Period, View, Entity, Value, Accounts,
Intercompany partner.

• This is the Dimension Library where all system defined


dimensions are shown and user can create own defined
dimensions also.
Workspace – Application Library
An Application Library, for holding definitions of the various
Essbase, Planning and HFM applications EPMA manages.

When we need to work on some EPMA application we need to
create a application.
During creation of application user can customize the
Dimension, Rules set etc.
Application library shows all the application lists created till
now.
When we select some application all the related information
regarding the application like Name, Type, Creation date,
Last deployment date, Status etc are shown in Application
Library. Apart from that the dimensions, Rules,
Synchronization status are given too.
It also save time & resource by re-usability .
Workspace – Data Sync
A Data Synchronization Engine, for loading data (numbers)
into EPMA managed applications from various data
sources.
Navigating Workspace

• Tasklists provide quick access to frequently used tasks and documents.


• Data forms enable you to enter data for predefined views, such that
specific periods & accounts.
• DataGrid enable you to use a spreadsheet like application to enter, edit
and view data in Financial Management application.
• Reporting enables you to view various Financial Management reports,
such as journal reports and intercompany matching reports.
• Links enable to create link to Web pages or some documents.
• Related Contents enable you to incorporate Workspace content directly
into a financial management task lists.
• Custom Documents enable you to attach one or more documents to cell
in data grids , data forms and Process Management Cells
Common issues and solutions
Problem: Workspace is not displaying “The Apache Server
couldn’t be connected”
Solution: Close IE then restart Apache Server Service then
open IE
Problem:“Page Can’t be displayed”
Solution: Service not started, check service.
Problem : Dimension Library, Application Library, Calc
Manager is not showing or Showing as $NAME$ and saying
that it’s not configured.
Solution : Restart all services in proper order if required
restart the system
