 Working with your title: identify search terms/alternative
terms /related terms / concepts
For Example
The changing image of women in 20th Century American crime films.

Particular Topic of
Angle Inquiry
Location
Time period
Focused
Alternative terms: Crime films/ Crime drama/ Crime movies etc
Related terms: Private eye/ Private detective/ Villains /Serial killers

No search engine, whether in a database of journals or an Internet search

engine, is intuitive
 a) Truncation If your Word (derivatives of the word )

For Example
 b) Linking terms together (and/or)
Linking two terms with AND will narrow your search to find only results
that contain all terms. Insurance +Risk if you want results with insurance
only the write Insurance Risk (Not)

Linking two terms with OR will broaden your search to find any results
that contain either or both terms. Insurance &Risk

Important Note:
Search result are not same for using small (and) and cap (AND)
 c) Variant spellings and Wild card

Searching for colour wont necessarily find any results containing the
American spelling color

Note: search like color or colour then the results will be more efficient

For Example write Organi?ation.. Instead of writing Z or S

*, !, ?, or # symbols vary across databases

d) Finding phrases (a common saying or expression)

Searching: college students test anxiety

Translated to: college AND students AND test AND anxiety. The
words may appear individually throughout the resulting records

Appropriate Practice
Searching: college students AND test anxiety Better Results

Translated to: college students AND test anxiety. The words may
appear collectively throughout the resulting records
Board resources to search. i.e. scholar.google.com or even google.com

Preferred to use advance option

 Will highlight the Will highlight the Example: work-
