Students have a task sheet with these listed
and work to complete at their own pace. All
work should be completed by the required
dates.
Each week students are assigned a variety of work jobs to
complete in class by Friday. These are differentiated
according to the needs of the students.

RRJs (Readers Response Journals) are due every Friday


(unless otherwise specified) and will become homework, if
not completed in class.

Writing journals are part of our work jobs and will be


collected on the last school day of each month.

Social Studies will be assigned on Monday to be completed


by due date on ticket. It will become homework, if not
completed in class.

A variety of reading and writing projects will be assigned


throughout the year.
Read at Home (RAH) for 30 minutes daily.
RAH is collected every Thursday. Must be
completed and signed for full credit.
Achieve 3000 and or I-ready Lessons
Study daily (vocabulary words ( Flocabulary),
prefix list, skills)
Study Social Studies and vocabulary for each
weekquizzes on Friday.
**Some work from work jobs will come home if
not completed in class.Look for these daily.
**Please check Focus weekly for missing
assignments!
Achieve 3000 2 lessons should be done
weekly
Goal is 9 lessons a month at 75% or higher
Each month students lexile level adjusts
based on their success rate on the lessons
Every Friday students will be rewarded when
they reach a different level
I-Ready should complete two lessons weekly
Cart, before school 8:00-8:30 or, at home

25 Books Requirement: It is a Duval County
requirement that each student meets the 25 book
standard. For 5th graders one book will be equal to 125
pages. This includes read at home logs and books read
at school. It is the students responsibility to keep track
of pages read on a log. If its not logged it will not be
count. This will translate to a weekly homework grade.
We will tally totals at the end of each nine weeks
Engage NY is the comprehensive
learning curriculum that Duval has
adopted
Each child will receive a consumable
textbook to use during class each day.
Workbooks and journals may go home
nightly to assist with homework. Please
make sure they are brought back the
next day.

Students will also have 1 hour of i-Ready
homework per week.
I will be taking homework as a grade.
Study multiplication facts and division facts
daily.
For i-Ready: Username and password is their
student number with a capital S (in planner).

Students should not be dropped off before 8:00
unless they are in extended day or are a safety
patrol.
Make sure your child is in school on time
everyday unless he/she is sick.
Set aside a daily time for your child to read
and study.
Make sure your child has his/her supplies daily.
Have discussions with your child about what
he/she is reading and learning.

What is the SAC at BSE? The responsibility of the
SAC is to provide parents, community members,
faculty, and staff an opportunity to participate in
the development of educational priorities,
assessment of a schools needs, and
identification of local resources.

Meetings: Held once a month, beginning at


6:00 pm in the media center. The next meeting
is scheduled for Tuesday, September 19th.
