About Ajmer unit
The unit stablished at Ajmer as Machine Tool Corporation Of India limited.
Govt. of India undertaking in Jan., 1967 in collaboration with M/s. Skoda Export
,Czechoslovakia & subsequently. Then the East Germany, for
the purpose of making India Self-reliant in manufacture of precision grinding
machine the Ajmer unit was merged with M/s. HMT Ltd. In 1975.Hmt ajmer unit
is spread over 178 acres with annual turnover of 2214 lackhs.

HMT Machine Tools Limited, Ajmer is pioneer in making

World class Grinding Machines in India & developed number of
machines as Import substitution .
Manufacturing of conventional grinding machines was
started in 1970
Vertical surface grinding machine

What is a CNC Machine?

CNC : Computer Numerical Control

The CNC system are constructed with an NC unit
integrated with a PLC and servo drives.
In a simple word, a CNC system receives numerical
data, interpret the data and then control the action
accordingly.
In a CNC Machine, spindle rotation and slide
movements are controlled by servo motor using
computer programs.
There are two types of servo drives:
- Constant torque-speed drives used for axis motors
- Constant power drives used for spindle motors 4
 Programming consists of a series of
instructions in form of letter codes
Preparatory Codes:
G codes- Initial machining setup and
establishing operating conditions
N - specifies program line number to
be executed by the NCU
Axis Codes: X,Y,Z - Used to specify
the slide names (X, Y, Z motion Block Format
direction)

Feed and Speed Codes: F and S-
Specify feed and spindle speed
