The methods used to investigate ground properties in this study include 2-D resistivity surveys, Mackintosh probe testing, and standard penetration testing. A 2-D resistivity survey involves setting up multiple electrodes in a straight line connected by cable to a switching unit and laptop. The laptop program reads a control file specifying the electrode sequence and measurements to build a subsurface resistivity model through an automatic process of selecting electrode pairs.

The methods to investigate has been used in association the ground properties in this with Mackintosh probe and study include: Standard Penetration Test (SPT). The arrangement of electrodes for a 2D electrical survey and the sequence of measurements used to build up a pseudosection Setup for a 2-D survey with a number of electrodes along a straight line attached to a multi-core cable. A constant spacing between adjacent electrodes is used. The multi-core cable is attached to an electronic switching unit which is connected to a laptop computer. The sequence of measurements to take, the type of array to use and other survey parameters is normally entered into a text file which can be read by a computer program in a laptop computer. After reading the control file, the computer program then automatically selects and stored the appropriate electrodes for each measurement. For a system with 20 electrodes as shown in the Figure, firstly 19 of measurements with a spacing of la is made, followed by 18 measurements with 2a spacing then by 17 measurements with 3a spacing and so on
