The yoyo

By: Emily Saenz

The introduction
The yoyo had been with us even form the middle ages and maybe even before.
In the middle ages the yo-yo was formed by piers and was a hunting gadget. Of
course, handling this weapon was not easy at all.
The Yoyo would throw himself around the animal's legs and tangle the rope
between his paws. But finally, in the fifties an American reduced the size of the
Yoyo so that it stopped being a weapon and became a toy for children. And even if
it seems astonishing to you, already in the year 1000 a.c. was used in china like
toy.
I chose yoyo because I have played with yoyo many times in my play hood and it
has always been one of the most entertaining toys for. me
Type of physical principle
The thread unwinds as a consequence of gravity, the yo-yo rotates
because the rope is slightly off-centered relative to the center of mass of
the yoyo. Consequently, the self transforms its gravitational potential
energy into rotational kinetic energy, acquiring a high angular momentum.
When it comes down, the yo-yo tends to retain the angular momentum
and begins to roll up again, but when it coils it rises and begins to change
the rotational kinetic energy into gravitational potential again. In each
cycle the yoyo loses some energy by friction, so it is necessary to give a
little pull so that it acquires the extra energy that needs to return to the
hand
The yoyo is very important because it was one very useful tool
for hunting and is the secound oldest known toy in history. The
yoyo is probaby older tan the medieval times .
Principal uses
The yoyo nowdays is mainly used as a
toy but in few parts of the world they still
use the yoyo as an arm.
