 Solution
• Median = Sum of all the Enrollees / 2
= 81 / 2
= 40.5
• Start scanning from top to bottom and keep on adding
the number of enrollees of each place which ever
comes first. Scan till the number of enrollees become
equal to or greater then median i.e. 40.5. The sum will
become greater then median at location 5.
• Similarly scan from bottom to up again the sum will
become greater then the median at location 5.
• Again scan from left to right, the sum will
become greater then median at location 15.04
similarly if you scan from right to left the sum
will become greater than mean at location
15.04.
• So the two line segments cut each other at
location 5. So the HMO should be at location
5.
