Importance of English in Medicine
Importance of English in Medicine
ENGLISH IN
MEDICINE
CYCLE I
The need to master English today is an undoubted
issue in a world where international relations are
increasingly important and where the language of
communication par excellence is English.
The growing importance of knowledge of this
language has had an impact on all countries.
Why or why does a Health Professional need
English?
THE REASON WE COULD FRAME ARE
1.Research
2. The handling of instruction manuals for devices
and instruments found in hospitals, outpatient clinics,
or other Health Centers.
Secondly, if the professional wants to publish the results of his research, he will have to prepare
two abstracts or abstracts, one in Spanish and one in English, even if it is only a national
magazine of medium quality. But if you want to publish in a prestigious journal for your work to
have an international projection, both the review and the full article should be written in English.
On the other hand, if the researcher or any professional who wants to be up to date, decides to attend
important Congresses, he will immediately perceive that the best and most interesting lectures or
presentations are normally done in English, although this is not the native language of the lecturer Or
rapporteur concerned. And even if there is simultaneous translation, the person who knows English
will have the advantage of being able to understand the message directly, without risk of loss of
information or mistakes by others.
In addition, the most interesting thing is not the conference
itself, but the contact with researchers or professionals
from other countries during breaks, debates, round tables
and even after the congress. This interaction will be
maintained, in most cases, in English because this is the
language they are most likely to know.
