X Ray

X-rays were discovered and first observed in 1895 by the

German physicist Wilhelm Rntgen
HOW DISCOVERED?
Rntgen found them by accident while experimenting with gas discharge
(vacuum) tubes.
A week after Rntgen made his discovery, he took an X-ray photograph of his
wife's hand, which clearly showed her wedding ring and her bones. This photo
caused huge public excitement and aroused much scientific interest in the
mysterious new type of radiation. Rntgen called it "X" to indicate it was an
unknown phenomenon. The name stuck, although (despite Rntgen's
objections) many of his colleagues suggested calling them Rntgen rays a
name that is still used, especially in German-speaking countries.
FUNCTION
THE TERM X-RAY REFERS TO AN INVISIBLE ELECTROMAGNETIC
RADIATION CAPABLE OF PENETRATING OPAQUE BODIES AND
PRINTING PHOTOGRAPIC FILMS.
THE CURRENT DIGITAL SYSTEM ALLOW THE ACQUISITION AND
VISUALIZATION OF THE RADIOGRAPIC IMAGE DIRECTLY IN A
COMPUTER WITHOUT HAVING TO PRINT IT. THE WAVELENGHT IS
BETWEEN 10 TO 0.1 NANOMETERS, CORRESPONDING TO
FREQUENCIES IN THE RANGE OF 30 TO 3000 PHz (FROM 50 TO 5000
TIMES THE FREQUENCY OF VISIBLE LIGHT).
CONSIST

X-rays consist of electromagnetic radiation

of wavelengths shorter than those of
ultraviolet rays and longer than those of
gamma rays. X-ray wavelengths fall roughly
in the range from 0.0110 nm (nanometers,
or billionths of a meter).
SENTENCES
HIS STUDIES WERE IN WUZBURG UNIVERSITY.
HIS DISCOVER WAS BY ACCIDENT.
HIS FIRST X RAY WAS OF THE HAND OF HIS WIFE
HIS DISCOVERY DIAGNOSES BROKEN BONES
