The Legislature of the State of Texas is a bicameral body composed of a 31-member Senate and a
150-member House of Representatives.
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) is the branch of state government that administers Texas’ public
elementary and secondary education system.
The State Board of Education (SBOE) is the agency’s governing body. The board adopts rules and
establishes policies for the state’s public education system
Texas Commissioner of Education serves as the head of the Texas Education Agency, which oversees
1,037 school districts and about 200 charter schools.
The State Board for Educator Certification oversees all aspects of the preparation, certification, and
standards of conduct of public school educators.
School districts are independent special-purpose governments, or dependent school systems, which
are under the control of state or local government.
School board or school committee is the title of the board of directors or board of trustees of a
school, local school district or higher administrative level.
Senior Policy Advisor serves to advise the commissioner on policy and rule making processes for
legislative requests, school district issues, and agency and media relations
The General Counsel provides legal counsel and representation to TEA; advises local districts,
personnel and parents in the interpretation and administration of school law; handles thousands of
public inquiries; administers enforcement matters including accreditation, charter schools and
special programs and drivers education; and acts as liaison to the Attorney General for official
opinion requests and litigation involving TEA.
Internal Audit provides an independent appraisal function whose purpose is to examine and
evaluate agency activities and report to agency management and the Commissioner of
Education.
Test Monitoring and Inspector General Investigations performs targeted and purposeful oversight,
investigation, and accountability activities under the direction of the Commissioner of Education.
The Deputy Commissioner for Statewide Policy and Programs exercises executive responsibility
over State Initiatives, Standards and Programs, and Assessment, Accountability and Data Quality.
The Deputy Commissioner for Finance and Administration serves as the Chief Operating
Officer of the agency and exercises executive responsibility over all fiduciary, information
technology and grants administration and evaluation functions accounting for over $20 billion
in state and federal funds.
The Deputy Commissioner for School District Leadership and Educator Quality is responsible for
the quality of educators and the monitoring of school district performance exercising executive
responsibility over all professional educators in the state through the Educator Certification,
Fingerprinting and Investigations, Educator Standards and Professional Discipline Units.
Permanent School Fund/Chief Investment Officer is the division is responsible for the investments of
the Texas Permanent School Fund. The Texas Constitution and applicable statutes delegate to the
State Board of Education the authority and responsibility for investment of the Permanent School
Fund.

School board or school committee is the title of the board of directors or board of trustees of a

A superintendent (also known as a chief school administrator in many states) is an individual who has
executive oversight and administration rights, usually within an educational entity or organization.
Principal or Head of School is the title of the head administrator of an elementary school, middle
school, or high school
The job of General Maintenance Worker is done for the purpose/s of maintaining facilities for
students, staff, and public in
a safe operating condition; maintaining a preventive maintenance program; and resolving immediate
operational and/or safety concerns.0
Dieticians plan and direct the purchase and preparation of food, as well as supervise other food
service workers and ensure that the meals served are nutritious, appetizing, and within the
institution's budget.
Librarians select and order books, audiovisual materials, computer equipment, and other
materials that support their schools' educational programs
A Technology Manager coordinates information systems for schools, ensuring that computer
hardware, software, database management systems, Internet servers, and telecommunications
services are coordinated and configured for optimal performance
The Secretary, under direction, performs a variety of clerical, secretarial, and other minor
administrative functions required for the operation of school sites and other instructional programs;
performs other related duties as required.
The Teacher is responsible for providing an educational atmosphere where students have the
opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, spiritual and psychological
growth. This person is responsible for organizing and implementing an instructional program that will
result in students achieving academic success in accordance with Sevenstar Academy policies.
The Teachers’ Aide is responsible for assisting a classroom teacher in the general supervision and
management of the children
The job of Cafeteria Worker is done for the purpose/s of preparing and distributing food items;
providing complete and accurate documentation and audit trail for meals served; and maintaining
facilities in a sanitary condition.
A Library Aide ,under general supervision of the site Administrator and as part of the library/media
program, performs a variety of computer, clerical, and library duties in a school library; and
provides general information and assistance to students and staff
