where pa-bay is 0 for HWIC, slot is the slot number where the 3G HWIC is plugged in (0-3).
Note: The firmware is packaged as a TAR archive. After copying to router flash, use the following

Problems during Router booting up
Initialization problems.
Hardware is not up to date. Cookies were not
programmed correctly.
Modem is not properly inserted. Firmware was not
upgrade successful.
Change that Customer still have the Beta Hardware
SIM Card Insertion problem.

configured autoselect during-login. Otherwise the line keep busy and no
call can be made
Modem Firmware Upgraded Support
There are two methods to upgrade the RJ-45 Port
modem firmware to 3G-HWIC: IOS and

thru the Diag port
Command to enable the diag port:

SWI One Click Tool
test cell-hwic 0/0/0 usb-to-dm
Command to connect modem USB port

back to HWIC:
Note1: User need to power cycle to modem after
test cell-hwic 0/0/0 usb-to-hwic
upgrade in order to use the new Firmware.
Use the one click tool from SWI. Router reload sometime necessary for this
Tar file is available from tftp Note2: Profile may get erased during the upgrade
process. It is recommended that you should
archive tar /xtract flash:V58.tar flash: backup your profiles and check if your profile
still available after upgraded.

Modem Activation using MDN/MSID
Activating the modem using MDN/MSID:

cellular 0/0/0 cdma activate manual <mdn> <msid> <sid>
<nid> <msl>
Viewing modem NAM and Data profile configuration:

show cellular 0/0/0 profile
Viewing the radio and network status:

show cellular 0/0/0 all
The sid (System id) and nid (Network id) can be obtained from show cellular network
Turn the console/terminal logging on to view the activation progress
Make sure the modem is attached to a valid service before issuing activation command
Check the output of show cellular profile to see if the modem has been activated.
Modem Activation using OTASP
Activating the modem using OTASP:

cellular 0/0/0 cdma activate otasp *22899
Viewing modem NAM and Data profile configuration:

show cellular 0/0/0 profile
Viewing the radio and network status:

show cellular 0/0/0 all
Turn the console/terminal logging on to view the activation progress
Make sure the modem is attached to a valid service before issuing activation command

Make sure you configure the script dialer under line interface same as the dialer string
configured under the cellular interface.

Create the static route

Create modem chat script

chat-script cdma "" "ATDT#777" TIMEOUT 60 CONNECT
The chat-script name should be same as the dialer string/script.
For Simple IP(SIP) call, make sure you only configure ppp chap password.
Step 4: Setting up and clearing a data call
Use ping command on router to create interesting traffic

ping 168.1.1.1
If a client device (like PC) is connected to the router, use a web request to
generate interesting traffic
To clear a data call, use the clear line command
clear line 0/0/0
Use debug dialer, debug ppp negotiation and debug modem to debug call setup.
