EQUIPMENT DESCRIPTION

The tunnel dryer is a device that removes the moisture of a product

through hot air that circulates through the tunnel and the wagons that
are inside. The operation may be basically adiabatic or the gas may
be heated with heating coils along its path through the dryer; in this
case, the operation may be basically at constant temperature.

PARALLEL TUNNEL DRYER
The main characteristics of this kind of tunnel are:
1. The directions of the air stream and the drying product are the same.

2. It allows high initial evaporation rates to be achieved because

relatively high air temperatures can be used without the risk of
overheating the product.

3. As the product moves along the tunnel, it gets in contact with

increasingly cold air, which prevents heat from damaging the product.

4. It is difficult to achieve very low moisture contents because at the end

of the tunnel the drying conditions are poor..

COUNTERCURRENT TUNNEL DRYER.

1. The directions of the current of the air and the product in drying are
opposite.

2. The drying rate is relatively poor in the initial part of the tunnel.

3. The conditions at the end of the dry and hot air tunnel allow low
moisture contents to exist, but there is a risk of overheating of the
plant material.

TRAYS : The trays can be smooth or trellised. In the latter, the

material should be placed on a paper, fabric or special synthetic
fiber where the circulation of hot air flows over the material from top
to bottom.

FAN : It is a device to shake or move air or gas. It basically creates a

stream of air by moving some blades or blades. It is used in the
tunnel dryer for directional drying air.

VACUUM PUMP : They create an environment inside the dryer at
pressures lower than the atmospheric in order to achieve a better
removal of moisture without affecting the properties of the product
to be dried.

the solids that are introduced to the process, inside this circulates
