FAMILY
A group of 2 or more persons related by birth,
marriage, adoption, or emotional ties residing
together in single household
It is a primary social unit consisting of parents and
children
TYPES OF FAMILY

Nuclear families or small families- consisting of


either married couple (or a divorced or widowed
parent) with unmarried children or of a married
couple without children
TYPES OF FAMILY

Extended families- pertain to a number of nuclear


families linked together by virtue of the kinship
bonds between parents and children or between
siblings.

Lineal families- consisting of 2 or more generations


with each generation composed of 1 married
couple (or a divorced person, widow, or widower)

Joint families- consisting of 2 or more married


couples of the same generation

Blended families- in which one or both of the


parents have had a previous marriage, and possibly
children from that marriage

Adoptive families- where the child is not related by


blood to the parent bus has been adopted legally

Foster family- where one or more of the children


are not the natural children of the parents.
The child may stay with the family for an extended
period through special government agencies

Communal Family- composed of a group of


individual who are formed for specific ideological or
societal purposes
