INTRODUCTION

At present the great majority of the energy used

worldwide comes from the oil, we consume
approximately 80 million daily barrels of fossil fuel, it
is for it that consider the forms of extraction, both
terrestrial and maritime, a worthy topic of debate.
Bearing in mind that the big multinationals trace the
surface of the planet in search of these oil reservoirs
and that the this land composed by fourth three
water parts, it is logical to think that great part of
these deposits they will be in the oceans.
So we gave ourselves a task of deepening the subject.
WHAT IS A PLATFORM?

An oil platform or petroleum platform is a structure of

big dimensions which function is to extract oil and
natural gas of the deposits of the sea floor that then will
be exported towards the coast.
Depending on the circumstances, the platform can be
fixed to the ocean bed, to float or to be an island artificial
due to his principal activity, the petroleum platforms are
inclined to have accidents that can cause losses of human
lives, spillages of oil and serious ecological hurts
PARTS OF THE PLATFORM
HISTORY OF THE PLATFORMS

The first wells of oil under the surface that was perforated in the
United States were in the Great Lake St. Marys in Ohio. There
were constructed platforms of wood supported on piles of the
same material. Five years later the exploitation moved to the
salty waters of the field Summerland, which was spreading
under the Channel of Holy Barbara in California.

The first oil plant of this style was constructed in 1897. These
were the first wells that were not on the coast but the
perforation realized from wharves that they were spreading
from the coast towards the interior of the channel.
TYPES OF PLATFORMS

A general classification of the platforms allows to

reduce it to two types:

Fixed
Mobiles
(Between the second ones there can be the
semisubmersible ones, the types barge and the
Jack-ups).

The works that can realize any of the types of

platforms enumerated are the habitual ones in
the offshore operations, and the employment on
one or another type they depend, principally on
the depth or on the time that will last the
operation.
They were the first units used. They have been preferred in deposits
located in water sheets up to 200 meters deep. Fixed platforms are
generally composed of modular steel structures, installed at the site of
operation with piles piled on the seabed. The fixed platforms are designed
to receive all the equipment of drilling, storage of materials, lodging of the
personnel, as well as all the facilities necessary for the production of the
wells.
INDUSTRIAL SAFETY ON OFFSHORE PLATFORMS

Gloves for general work, heavy work and against chemicals.

Eye protection according to NRF-007-PEMEX-2000 (lenses,

gogles, face shield).

Respiratory protection equipment (toxic dust, toxic cloud,

welding fumes and organic vapors).

Working lifejacket for use in the personnel transport basket

according to NOM-006-SCT4-1994.
INDUSTRIAL SAFETY ON OFFSHORE PLATFORMS

Hearing protection equipment (earplugs and

earmuffs) according to NMX-S-053-SCFI-2002.

Equipment for welder (facepiece, gogles for

welder, gaiters and breastplate) according to
what is established in Annex "S".

Communication system adaptable to the hands-

free helmet, in accordance with the provisions of
paragraph 8.2.2.1 of NRF-058-PEMEX-2004.
INDUSTRIAL SAFETY ON OFFSHORE PLATFORMS

H) Fall protection equipment (special hoof

harness, positioning line (tail), self-piercing 10
feet, 6.10 m (20 feet), 15.24 m (50 feet),
Suspension and lifting, scaffolding, cross-strap
cross-arms, a man-made vertical trek system for
tower or mast ladder and a chango exhaust
system), according to NRF-024-PEMEX-2001.

I) helmet, boots, jacket and trousers.

CONCLUSION

As we saw the oil industry encompasses many branches, and in this case
we talk about some of the platforms we use here in Mexico, as we know
mexico is a country with a personal oil industry, which has its own
infrastructure, marine platforms Which currently produce in Mexico are
fixed tipi structures, convecional, platforms have:
drilling
link
injection
production
Abitational
compression
Recovery of intermediate support
etc
