A MOBILE KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT
FRAMEWORK FOR POLICE FORCE
A. Mobile Police Knowledge Portal:
The main interface where users access the system is through the mobile police knowledge portal. The
proposed framework follows a client-server architecture whereby the clients connect to the system
through either wifi or mobile internet connection. Each police officer is equipped with a mobile handset
with internet connection capability.
B. Authentication
A user accessing the system is authenticated as soon as he/she enters the system. The system also
provides information to the officer, based on users credentials. Each user will have a unique profile, where
details of the latter are kept. Access to the system is only granted after providing a valid username and
password.
C. Access Control
The system keeps track of the users access levels in order to keep private and secured data confidential
from unauthorized people Furthermore, the police officer is allowed to browse through related cases
found in several police stations while elucidating a particular case. Each user has certain access level and
access to information based on his/her grade in the police force. The access control component ensures
that all data entering or being retrieved from the system be validated and encrypted since police data is
highly confidential. Any tamper with the system is immediately notified by this component. Task-based
access control is also used so that the activities of a police officer are restricted based on tasks assigned
to him.
 D .System Database:
The system has access to the police force central database to help officers on the move retrieve
data instantly about a citizen infringing the law and also file a case using their mobile devices on the spot.
There is a unique central database on the server which can be accessed 24/7 by officers on the move. It
stores all information about citizens, crimes, pictures amongst others. The central database accelerates
querying of information stored as well as reduces data redundancy, thus improving the maintenance
processes.
E. Knowledge Management:
This component manages the acquisition of information which can be done mainly through web
forms through the Knowledge Portal. It manages videos, text and images which are stored at different
locations connected to a centralized database. Information from police officers are stored and made
available to everyone in the police force. A search engine is available for quick search and retrieval of data.
Data entered into the system are stored on the server and made accessible to the officers on the move
and in police stations. The system focuses on capturing the knowledge that exists with the experts in the
domain and how they solve these problems, making it available to other members. Knowledge entered or
captured is transferred to the main repository through a web service from the mobile device. Each query
executed retrieves information from the server and displays it on the mobile device. The knowledge
management component facilitates communication with other employees instantaneously, where different
knowledge can be shared and gained mostly for latest inquiry. The knowledge management component
integrates mobile knowledge management processes consisting of mobile knowledge creation (mKC),
mobile knowledge application (mKA), mobile knowledge transfer (mKT) and mobile knowledge storage
(mKS)
WORKING:
THE VICTIM FIRST MAKES A REQUEST(THROUGH HIS OWN PROFILE ONCE
LOGGED IN).
THE VICTIM CAN ALSO SEND IMAGES ABOUT THE INCIDENT.
REQUEST IS SERVED TO ALL NEARBY POLICE OFFICERS.
THE POLICE OFFICER WHICH IS MOST CLOSELY LOCATED SERVERS THE
REQUSET.
THE LOCATION OF BOTH VICTIM AND THE POLICE OFFICER IS SHARED.
THE USER CAN TRACK THE EXACT LOCATION OF THE POLICE OFFICER
EMERGENCY MEDICAL HELP
OFTEN WE HAVE SEEN OR HEARD THAT AT THE TIME WHEN SOME
INCIDENT HAPPENS WITH SOMEONE HE OR SHE IS NOT ABLE TO GET
PROPER MEDICAL HELP.THE RESULT IS DEATH OR SOME OTHER EFFECT.
THE CAUSE OF SUCH THINGS IS BECAUSE OF LACK OF MANAGEMENT OR
SOME OTHER THINGS SUCH AS LACK OF COOPERATION BETWEEN THE
PEOPLE. IF WE CAN CURE THE CAUSE WE CAN EASILY GET RID OF EFFECT.
BY THIS APP THE USER CAN MAKE A CALL FOR AMBULANCE ANYTIME
AND CAN BE ASSURED FOR THE HELP.
WORKING:
THE VICTIM OR ANY OTHER PERSON MAKES A REQUSET(ONLY WHEN THE
PERSON IS LOGGED IN).
THE REQUEST IS SENT TO ALL THE NEARBY HOSPITALS OR MEDICAL CARE.
OUT OF THIS ,THE THING WHICH CAN PROVIDE FAST SERVICE IS
SELECTED.
THE LOCATION OF THE USER IS SERVED AND ALSO THE USER GETS THE
COMPLETE INFORMATION ABOUT THE SERVICE.
WOMEN SAFETY:
A LOT OF CASES ARE HEARD NOWADAYS ABOUT WOMENS BEING
VICTIMS OF SEXUAL HARRESMENT OR OTHER THINGS.
THEY FEEL UNSAFE WHEN THEY ARE ALONE OR AFRAID OF TRAVELLING
ALONE.
THE REASON IS THAT THERE ARE NO SUCH FACILITIES PROVIDED FOR
WOMEN WHICH CAN ATLEAST GIVE THEN ASSURANCE OF SAFETY.
BY THE TIME THEY PLACE A COMPLAIN EITHER THE CULPRIT DENIES OR
RUNS AWAY.
BUT BY THIS APP COMPLETE ASSURANCE CAN NOT BE GIVEN BUT A
SAFETY MEASURE CAN BE GIVEN SO THAT THEY FEEL SAFE ANYTIME.
THE USER IS ALLOWED TO SEND A REQUEST TO HER FAMILY OR FRIENDS
BASED ON THE LIST WHICH SHE CAN MAKE ONCE LOGGED IN.
WORKING:
THE USER MAKES A LIST OF PEOPLE WHICH SHE WOULD LIKE TO SEND
THE MESSAGE IN CASE OF EMERGENCY.
WHEN SOME INCEIDENT HAPPENS THE USER MAKES A REQUEST (ONCE
LOGGED IN).
THE REQUEST IS BEEN SEND TO ALL THE MEMBERS OF THE LIST.
THE USER CAN ALSO SEND THE PICTURES RELATED TO THE INCIDENT.
THE USER IF ANYTIME FEELS UNSAFE CAN SEND A MESSAGE TO THE
MEMBERS ABOUT HER LOCATION AND ALSO SOME MESSAGE.
