POPULATION

Pattern of pop. Growth are often considered an important


aspect of development.

At the time of independence in 1960,


CIV Pop. => 3.6 million
Ghana pop. => 7 million

However fertility rate is high in CIV as compare to Ghana


that is 4.9 &4.0 respectively.
EXTREME INEQUALITY

Inequality can slow down the process of


development in the nation.

According to WB Gini coefficient estimates the


values are 0.42 in CIV and 0.43 in Ghana.

Amin Langer point out that in CIV, rising inequality


causes an increase in ethnic tensions/inequality.
COMMON LAW OR CIVIL LAW

Ghanas legal system based on common laws.

while CIV legal system based on civil laws.

Many researches made in late 1990s indicates that


common law legal system provides better
foundation.
EDUCATION

Education is considered the most important element


in explaining economic growth.

The education level is higher in Ghana as compared

to CIV
According to the HDR,
In 2010 Ghanas enrollment rate is 7.0%
CIV enrollment rate is 4.2%
