INTRODUCTION :-

 Structural Analysis is mainly concerned with finding out the behavior of a

physical structure when subjected to force.
 A Static Load is one which varies Very Slowly. A Dynamic Load is one
which changes with time Fairly ,Quickly.
 Structure Dynamic is a type of structural analysis which cover the
behavior of structure subjected to Dynamic loading.
 Dynamic load includes Wind Load, Wave Load, Traffic Load, Earthquake
Load, Blast etc..
 Dynamic load can be used to Find dynamic displacement, time history and
nodal analysis.

Analysis Time-History
Response Linear Time-
Spectrum History
Time History analysis:-
 A full time-history will give the response of a structure over time during
and after the application of load.
 To find the full time-history of a structure's response we must have to
solve the equation of motion as a function of time.
 It is the advanced level of visual analysis that allows Four main Loading
types:
1. Base Accelerations,
2. Base Displacements,
3. Factored Forcing Functions,
4. Harmonically Varying Force Input.
linear Time-History method:-

 These are Forced based procedure.

 This method provides exact response of a structure as a function of time and
is determined using a step by step numerical integration of equation of
motion.
 The peak response can be obtained from the maximum value of the
response-history plot.
 Linear method can predict the elastic capacity of a structure and indicate
where the first yielding will occur.
 The serviceability of the structural components is evaluated in the elastic
range of strength and deformation.
 As the yielding progress the methods fails to predict the failure mechanism.
 Thus this method procedure fails to capture essential response characteristic.
 This method is useful for only minor earthquake.
Non-linear time-history method:-

 These are Displacement based procedure.

 It is often used if a high degree of accuracy is required.
ADVANTAGES
 It includes the ability to describe non-linear response and to represent the
time-history of the seismic response of the structure.
disadvantages
 Structural elements of non linear modals are more complex.
 Processing and evaluating the output often required considerable effort.
Difference between
LINEAR & Non-linear time-history method:-

 The difference between linear and non-linear time-history analysis is

often defined by the characteristic of the displacement dependent lateral
resisting force within structure.
 For linear system the lateral resisting forces are a single valued function
of the displacement.
 Whereas for non-linear system the lateral resisting forces are dependent
on the prior history of motion.
Literature Review
“Time History Analysis Of Steel And Composite Frame Structure”
Prasad Kolhe, Prof. Rakesh Shinde

International Journal of Research in Engineering & Advanced Technology, Volume 3, Issue 2, April-May, 2015

• In this work steel sections and composite sections (steel + concrete) are
considered for comparative study of high rise residential building.
• The main aim of study has been to identify the type of bracing which causes
minimum storey displacement such contributes to greater lateral stiffness to the
structure.
• Steel braced frame is the structural systems used to resist lateral loads in the
multi-storeyed buildings.
• This system allows a great increase of stiffness with a small amount of added
weight, and thus it is very effective for the existing structure in which the poor
lateral stiffness is the main problem.
• A G +10 Residential building plan & Structural steel of grade Fe 250 Mpa and
concrete of grade M30 is used.
CONCLUSION:

• If the stiffness is large, storey drift in time-history analysis will be

small. However Base shear will be very large.
• Difference in story drift for each story generally depends on
orientation of column and distribution of moment of inertia.
• Angle section placed back to back is most economical section to
reduced lateral deflection.
