PRESENTATION.

DEFINING THE PURPOSE:
• What do you want to communicate to the
audience?

• Decide what you want to achieve through your


presentation.

• Always focus on the purpose of the


presentation to ensure your presentation is
relevant & efficient.

• The first point to think about are what you


intend to tell your audience & how best you can
communicate your message.
KNOWING THE AUDIENCE.
• What is the expected size of the audience?
• Is the audience well informed about your
subject.
• How much knowledgeable are the
audience?

KNOWING THE VENUE:
• If possible, visit your chosen presentation venue in
advance to check the layout.

• Consider the lighting, acoustics &seating arrangement


carefully.

• Decide on the positioning of any visual aids well in


advance.

• The most important thing, Plan in advance how you will


make your exit.
FINDING MATERIAL:
• A successful presentation always begins with careful
background research.
• Allocate sufficient time for your research.
• You can get info from other sources like
-friends, family, other personal contacts, internet, etc.
• Make the audience feel that you are feeding them new
knowledge by providing them fresh information.
WRITING A
PRESENTATION:
• It is important to be aware that written material can
sound very different when it is delivered to an audience
in spoken form.

• Learn to write your presentation in a natural oral style


that follow natural speech pattern & is suitable for verbal
presentation.

• Always remember that writing a speech is different from


hearing it read.

• The written structure of your presentation is not too


complex or confusing.
USING AUDIO-VISUAL
AIDS:
• Audio-visual aids can be central to a presentation as
they are often able to illustrate difficult concepts more
easily than words.

• Always rehearse your presentation using your chosen


audio-visual aids.

• Never be tempted to use audio-visual unnecessarily.


REHEARSING:
• Rehearsal is a vital part of preparing for a successful
presentation.

• It is an ideal opportunity to memorize and time your


material and to smooth over any rough edges in your
delivery.

• Practice with your AV aids, and allow time for questions


at the end.
2. PREPARING YOURSELF.
This includes :

• Believing in yourself.

• Analyzing yourself [appearance].

• Improving your voice.


BELIEVING IN YOURSELF:
• A positive self-image is all important for delivering a
successful presentation.

• Identify your strengths, and make the most of them.

• Except in very rare cases, the audience is as keen as


you are for your presentation to be interesting and
successful.
ANALYSING
APPEARANCE:
• First impression are very strong and hard to change.

• Your audience will be greatly affected by the way you


look.

• Study yourself in a mirror to see what impression you


make. And do not wear anything that may distract the
audience.
Improving your voice:
• The tone and volume of your voice have a critical effect
on a presentation.

• Understanding how the vocal system works, and how


you can control it to manipulate the sound of your voice,
is a key part of preparing yourself for a successful
presentation.
3.HOW TO DELIVER A
PRESENTATION:
This includes

• Controlling Nerves.

• Speaking Confidently.

• Closing Effectively.
CONTROLLING NERVES:

• Even the most experienced of speakers will


feel nervous just before making a presentation.

• Nervousness prevent you from being natural,


so u need to do everything you can do to
control your nerves in order to give the most
effective presentation.
SPEAKING CONFIDENTLY:

• The delivery of the presentation has as much impact as


the message itself. It is essential to start strongly.

• By using your tone of voice, your body language, make


the audience understand of what you have to say.

• Make sure you are introduced properly to the audience


so that it will make you confident and give you plus point
and makes the audience clear of what you are about to
tell them.

• Make your eye contact with someone whom you can feel
comfortable with.
CLOSING EFFECTIVELY:

• It is important to have a strong conclusion to your


presentation because it helps to form the impression on
the audience.

• Always repeat the points that you have already said.

• Do not rush off as if you are hurry to leave.

• Always close with a good strong summary.


4. HANDLING THE
AUDIENCE:
This includes

• Judging the mood of audience.

• Dealing with questions.

• Coping with hostility.


JUDGING THE MOOD OF
AUDIENCE:

• Try to arrive at the venue early enough


to know the mood of audience.

• Involve members of the audience by


asking questions at regular intervals.
DEALING WITH
QUESTIONS:
• Many good presentations have been spoiled by poor
handling of questions raised by the audience.

• Learn to deal with difficult questions during your


preparation and you will handle anything you are asked
with confidence.

• You must always be fully prepared before going to the


presentation so that you can answer the questions
properly.

• Questions should be answered one at a time.


COPING WITH HOSTILITY:

• A presentation may occasionally give rise to


strong feelings or violently opposed few points
among members of the audience. When faced
with such a situation you must be able to cope
with both of hostility and a silent reception.

• Tell the truth because audience will quickly


recognize insincerity.
