 Introduction
• Tubular braces connect to jacket legs & to
each other at the “joints” forming  a 3-D
jacket truss structure.
• The external forces acting on the member
spans are transferred to  their end
support points (joints) from where they are
distributed to the other connecting members
and/or to the global jacket structure.
 Definisi
• A tubular connection/joint
– Portion of a structure where the cross sections
of one or more tubes serving as braces are
joined by fusion welding to the undisturbed
exterior surface of another tube serving as a
chord member.
– The localized portion of a structure where the
joining of the tubular section occurs or the
interface created by the two intersecting
member surfaces.
