Stem Cell Culture
Bone Marrow Stem Cells
Cystic Fibrosis: Stem cell
Therapy Approach

*Human bone marrow derived stem cells can

differentiate into airway epithelial cells

*Encoding these cells with the gene that is

defective in CF restores cellular function

*Keep airways clear of mucus and air-borne

irritants

*Hope to perform clinical trial in next 2-3 years

ALZHEIMER’S Disease
*Alzheimer’s disease is characterized by very
specific neurological abnormalities, which
ultimately result in very specific types of
behavioral abnormalities.

*Causes: The precise causes of Alzheimer’s

disease are believed to involve a complex
interaction of genetic and environmental
factors.

*As a chronic, progressive, neurodegenerative

disorder, Alzheimer’s disease is a prime
candidate for adult stem cell treatment. Indeed,
research has shown a variety of promising
approaches to the treatment of this disease with
adult stem cells.
PARKINSON’S DISEASE
*Parkinson's disease (also known as
Parkinson disease or PD) is a degenerative
disorder of the central nervous system that
often impairs the sufferer's motor skills,
speech, and other functions.

*Parkinson's Disease is caused by the

degeneration of dopamine-producing cells
in a certain part of the brain.

*Formation of dopamine-producing cells

from stem cells in a highly effective manner.
This represents an important step in the
development of a stem-cell based
treatment for Parkinson's Disease.
Type I Diabetes
Scope:

*Spinal cord injuries

*Myocardial infarction
*Cancer treatment
*Rheumatoid arthritis
*Retinas pigmentosa
*Orthopedics
