• In single pulse width modulation control, there is only one pulse per half cycle

• Width of pulse is varied to control inverter output voltage

• Fig. 6.11 shows the generation of gating signals and output voltage

• The gating signal is generated by COMPARISION with reference signal and carrier signal.

• Reference defines foutput voltage

• V0= VS(g1 –g4)

• Amplitude modulation index = Ar / AC

Single Pulse width modulation
I. In this modulation technique, width of
each pulse is varied in proportion to
amplitude of Sin wave evaluated at
center of same pulse. The Distortion
Factor and Lowest Order Harmonic are
significantly reduced.
II. The gating signals are show in fig.
III. These signals are generating by
comparing Triangular Carrier signal
with Sinusoidal Reference signal.
