DYNAMICS OF SPIRITUALITY
(Part 3)
Introduction
 We are in the last days – 2 Tim. 3:1-10
 Many shall depart from the faith – 1
Tim. 4:1,2
 Many shall go after other gods,
particularly the
god of gold – Ex. 32:26-31; Matt.
6:24
 Many shall be covetous resulting into
stealing
and fraud – Zech. 5:4

The Power of Conscience
“Holding faith, and a good
conscience; which some
having put away concerning
faith have made shipwreck”. -
1Tim1:19
Without a good conscience, no matter
the dimension of faith with which one
operates:
- He is heading for a shipwreck,
- He is heading for an accident,
- He is heading for a crash,

What is Conscience?

Conscience can be defined as the

invisible you that determines the
destiny of the visible you.
It is the invisible you, the you that
cannot be seen with natural eyes
but it determines the outcome of
the you that we can see.
It is the you that only you and God
alone can relate with.

Its mission is to police your
destiny unto dignity if you let
him.
Every mortal man has a
conscience.
But it is redemption that brings
our conscience back to life
(mentioned only in the New
Testament).

Conscience, man’s most awesome
companion!
Conscience, man’s invisible confidant!
Conscience, the life-wire of every mortal
man!
Faith is no substitute for a good
conscience.
“Holding faith, and a good
conscience; which some having
put away concerning faith have
made shipwreck”-1 Tim. 1:19
The anointing of the Holy Ghost is no
substitute for a good conscience.
• Conscience the monitor of our thoughts,
the monitor of our hearts, sending us
signals for caution time and again.
• Apostle Paul testifies,
“And Paul, earnestly beholding
the council, said, Men and
brethren, I have lived in all good
conscience before God until this
day” Acts 23:1
• Paul again stated,

“For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of

our conscience, that in simplicity and godly
Page 6 of 18
What is the testimony of our conscience?
Godly sincerity demonstrated in your day-to-day
work.

No hypocrisy, no falsehood! No manipulations

“Therefore seeing we have this ministry,

as we have received mercy, we faint not;
But have renounced the hidden things of
dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor
handling the word of God deceitfully; but
by manifestation of the truth
commending ourselves to every man’s
conscience in the sight of God.” 2 Cor.
4:1-2.
That is, when Godly sincerity
becomes your way of life, you have a
testimony of a good conscience.

Paul said in his epistle, “…for we

trust we have a good conscience,
in all things willing to live
honestly”. Heb 13:18
What’s a Good Conscience?
Living honestly!
For if only on this earth we have
profit, then we are most of all men
miserable (1 Cor. 15:19).
We know that some day, everyone of
us shall give account of himself
before God (Romans 14:12).
We therefore cannot afford to be
partakers of the unfruitful works of
darkness
but rather to reprove them
(Ephesians 5:11).
How Do I Maintain a Good Conscience
You can’t operate a good conscience
without paying the price for it.
For instance, the Word says:

“For this is thankworthy, if a

man for conscience toward
God endure grief, suffering
wrongfully” 1 Pet 2:19
One may have to endure pains, grief,
suffering wrongfully like Joseph in the
house
Page 10 of 18 of Potiphar, like Daniel in the
• If a man for conscience towards God
endures grief, suffering wrongfully,
He said it is thankworthy.
• That means at the end of it you will
say ‘Thank You Jesus’.

Three Levels of
Conscience
Weak conscience – 1Cor
8:12

• Its like a chameleon in nature, he adapt
without any resistance to the ongoings in
any environment. Weak conscience!

Defiled conscience
• This conscience is an evil dominating
conscience, virus and corrupted by
evil
“Unto the pure all things are pure: but
unto them that are defiled and
unbelieving is nothing pure; but even
their mind and conscience is defiled.”
-
Titus 1:15
• As it is written,
“Let us draw near with a true
heart in full assurance of faith,
having our hearts sprinkled from
an evil conscience, (talking about
defiled conscience) and our
bodies washed with pure water.”
Heb. 10:22
Dead conscience
• Evil has had his way to a point that
the conscience has become dead.
“Speaking lies in hypocrisy;
• For instance, when you place hot iron
on flesh, you destroy the cells of the
body.
• When a conscience is seared with a hot
iron, it implies a dead conscience.
• And because like begets like, a dead
conscience will generate dead works.
“How much more shall the blood of
Christ, who through the eternal Spirit
offered himself without spot to God,
purge your conscience from dead
works to serve the living God?” Heb.
9:14.
Page 14x of 18
How to Cultivate A Healthy Conscience

Paul was speaking here in chapter 24

of Acts of Apostle and verse 16, “And
herein do I exercise myself, to have
always a conscience void of offence
toward God, and toward men. I exercise
myself!”
The only way to grow from weakness
to strength is by exercising yourself.
That is the whole job that the
Physiotherapist do in helping their
patience regain strength; they subject
them to
exercises and with time the
weakling limb begins to pick up again
For bodily
As it is written,
exercise profiteth little: but
godliness is profitable unto
all things, having promise of
the life that now is, and of
that which is to come.” 1 Tim
4:8

The blood of Christ among other

things is a covenant device through
which our conscience is purged,
• “For if the blood of bulls and of goats,
and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling
the unclean, sanctifieth to the
purifying of the flesh: How much
more shall the blood of Christ, who
through the eternal Spirit offered
himself without spot to God, purge
your conscience.” Hebrews
9:13-14

• The blood of Jesus is our

rescue from dead
conscience.
Without a good conscience one
cannot serve the living God
acceptably.

Until your conscience and my

conscience is purged from dead
works we cannot serve the living
God.
