EIGRP
• Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocols:-

• Cisco Propriety : Works with the Cisco Devices

• It is also called hybrid it will works as distance vector as well link state procol

• Classless Routing Protocols

• Max Hop Count is 255 (100 by default)

• Administrative Distance

• Flexible Network Design

• Multicast and Unicast Instead of Broadcast Address (IGRP is also broadcast)

• 100% loop free

• Easily configured on WAN.

• Updates are through Multicast (224.0.0.10)

• Hello Packets are sent every 5 seconds

• Convergence rate is fast

• It Uses DUAL (Diffusion Update Algorithm)

• Support equal cost an unequal cost load balancing

• It Support IP, IPX and AppleTalk Protocols

EIGRP Metric Calculations
• EIGRP uses (BW + Delay + Load + MTU + Reliability)

• By Default on Bandwidth and Delay will be consider in the calculation

• By Default K Values (K1=1, K2=0, K3=1, K4=0, K5=0)

• Metric = (K1 * BW ) ((K2 * BW) / (256 – Load) + K3 * Delay )
