Definition
• Oxford: Literature in the form of prose that
describes imaginary events and people
• Story about characters and events not based
on real people and facts
• Something invented or untrue
• A false belief/statement but is often held to be
true
 Types of Fiction
• Traditionally, fiction includes novels, short
stories, fables, legends, myths, fairy
tales, epic and narrative
poetry, plays and various kinds of theatrical
dances. However, fiction may also
encompass comic books, animated
cartoons, stop motions, anime, films, video
games, radio programs, television programs,
etc.
