INTRODUCTION::-
An unmanned aerial vehicle , commonly known as a
DRONE is a mechanical aircraft without a human pilot
on its board .The flight of UAV’s may operate with a
human operator remote control or by on board system
controls . Compared to manned aircraft UAV’s r often
preferred for machine that are too “dull, dirty or
dangerous” for humans. They originated mostly in
military applications, although their use is expanding
in commercial , scientific, recreational, agricultural
and other applications .
How does it work…??
At its most basic, the system that makes a drone
consists of the combination of sensors, which
gather information about the drone’s position and
orientation relative to that environment, and
actuators, which are small mechanisms that create
movement of some part of the vehicle.
In basic remote-control vehicles, a
human stands between the sensors and the
actuators. Based on that information received it
sends instructions to the actuators. A Launch and
Recovery unit at the drone’s home base controls
the aircraft during takeoffs and landings via C-
band radio frequency.
Components of UAV:-
• The Essentials
RC Transmitter
Multi Rotor Frame
Motors/Speed Controller
Battery and Charger

• Optional Extras

Battery Alarm
Flight Controller
Camera Gimbals
Telemetry
Wireless Video
FUNCTIONS OF VARIOUS
COMPONENTS:-
• Radio Transmitter:
In transmitter ,when you move the joysticks on
transmitter, a signal will be sent to your receiver,
which will then instruct your servos to move the
control surfaces to turn your plane, or instruct
your motor to speed up or slow down.
• Multi rotor frame :
The frame is the actual UAV. There is a huge range
of choices of frames. The most common
configuration is a quad copter with four motors.
There are also hexa copter (Six motors)and
optacopter (8 motors).
• Motors /speed controller :
The motors , propellers are a fairly important
aspect of your multi rotor since they will provide
the lift for your UAV to fly around. multi rotor
motors tend to have a lower KV rating than fixed
wing motors , because they are designed to spin
lower, but produce more torque.
• Flight controller:
The flight controller is the brain of your multi rotor
UAV. Flight controllers are used to help stabilize your
multi rotor, and some more advanced flight
controllers can also autonomously fly your UAV to
pre programmed way points including take off and
landing .
•Battery and charger:
The battery provides power to your UVA . The
battery will control both your flight controller
and motors. When choosing a battery the two
main factors are the capacity, voltage. the
voltage is dependent on the number of cells .
The capacity common
ideal for multi rotors
are around 3000 mah.
Working principle:-
Types of Drones:
•Micro and Mini
•Tactical
•Strategic
Usage aspects:-
• Military :
Most of the military operations are being done with the help
of UAV.
• Reconnaissance :
Drone is intended for reconnaissance to a depth of
several hundred kilo meters from the super sonic speeds.
The Hawk and swift are super sonic long range drones
used for photographic and signal intelligence to a
distances of 3200KM.
• Attacking :
UAV’s armed with missiles have been used by
various countries as platform hitting ground target.
Armed predators were first used in late 2001.
• Hobby and Recreational use:
Model aircrafts have been flown by hobbyists since
the earliest days of manned flight. Almost every
nation permits it as recreational use with a
particular set of safety rules.
• Agriculture :
Wide range of man power is required for
various agricultural purposes which leads to
economic problems to overcome these
problems drones can be involved into
agriculture.
• Food carriers:
These are used to supply
food in flooded regions.
• Passenger carriers:
Heavy drones can be used
to people of lower weights in case of emergencies.
AGRICULTURAL USE

EHANG 184 DRONE

Advantages:
• Reduce man power
• Has the exact advantages of Robot
• Can be used in places where human survival is
difficult.
• Used for surveying large areas
• Reduces time factor
• Heavy weights can be lifted easily
• Army applications
• Filmy uses
Disadvantages:
• Higher cost
• Highly skilled operators are
required.
• Possibility of hacking.
Conclusion :
The two true hard workers i.e. Army
and Farmers are being help by such
UAV in many ways so I would like to
suggest you, the mechanical
engineers to invent and implement
the drones for increasing the scope
of development in the country.
