Aim of the course

The aim of this course is to familiarize you with


the basic pedagogical components of
teaching that will help you to manage the
classroom environment, select the
appropriate teaching approach and
designing lesson plan
Objective
At the end of the training:
 You will be able to describe at least four
elements of effective classroom
management.
 You will list the teaching approaches.
 You will be able to demonstrate elements of
effective lesson plan.
What is classroom management?

 It is a skill teachers use to keep students


organized, focused, attentive, on task, and
academically productive during a class.
Elements to consider for creating effective classroom
management.

 Create an interesting classroom environment:


 well -lit,
 appropriate sitting arrangement,

 learning stimulating decorations.


 Mention expectation from your students: how they
should behave during a lesson.
 Reflect encouraging behavior that facilitates
teaching.
 Prepare materials to be used for teaching
 Make sure that you select appropriate activities that
will engage your learners.

Steps to follow on design a lesson plan.
1. Chose the topic of the lesson you planned to
teach.
2. State what you expected your students/ kids
should know or do at the end of the lesson.
3. Write what you expect the students/ kids be
able to do during this lesson.
4. Allocate the time required to do each
activities and to complete the lesson.
5. List the materials going to be used during the
lesson.
6. Select the teaching method going to be used
7. Start your teaching by brain storming and
finish it by summarizing your lesson.
8. Ask questions from the topic you teach
