To understand the importance and effects of


motivation and find methods to improve it by
identifying key factors, those determine the level
of motivation in employees.

• Employee motivation has been identified as one of the biggest challenges by


various BPO’s.

• Enhance the effectiveness, commitment and retention of an incumbent


workforce though increased understanding of human behavior.

• Motivate and retain employees whose basic monetary and material needs
may have been satisfied, but who are seeking to find their internal “drives”.

• Improve human resource planning and development in organizations.

• Identify motivational and managerial issues related to interpersonal style.

• Reduce the impact of turbulence and organizational transition on employee


commitment and productivity.
Generally speaking the following can be said to be the reasons why employees
leave an organization

• Non conducive working climate or environment

• Limited growth and advancement opportunities

• Less support from immediate managers

• Mismatch between an individual's skill sets and his/her job

• Lack of appreciation or recognition for work done

• Inflexibility with regard to work timings, styles etc

• An individual given too much or too little work responsibilities

• No decision making authority

• No scope for personal development

• Inadequate compensation and benefits


"Employee Motivation"

George Bernard Shaw once said "Set me anything to do as a task,


and it is inconceivable the desire I have to do something else." This
perhaps is the basic instinct in the human individual, the instinct of
consciously or unconsciously deviating from the main job at hand.
So the fundamental problem facing employers is how to keep the
employee morale high and motivating them enough to not only do
their job but to also do it in such a way so as to benefit the
company to the fullest.

Motivation may be defined according to A.Maslow, as "The processes


that account for an individual's intensity, direction and persistence of
effort towards attaining a goal."

paying attention to what the employees are doing and giving the credit to them
where it is due
